Wednesday, September 28:

The WDVX "Blue Plate Special" live web/broadcast (www.wdvx.com, 89.9/102.9 FM) in the Knoxville Visitor Center presents Two Man Gentlemen Band and Tennessee Sheiks. Free. 12 noon.

Third and last night of Widespread Panic at the Tennessee Theatre on Gay Street. 7:30 pm.

The Two Man Gentleman Band and Pokey LaFarge & The South City Three will perform at Boyd's Jig & Reel in Old City.

Voodoo Bone featuring Chico Crawford hosts the Musicians Jam at Paul's Oasis out west. Free. 9 pm.

Labron Lazenby & LA3 hosts the Blues Jam at Coyote Joe's on Clinton Hiway. 9 pm.

Robert Higginbotham & Smokin' Section host the Blues Jam at Brackins Blues Club in Maryville. Free. 9 pm.

 

Thursday, September 29:

 Boling, Brown, & Holloway play top shelf Jazz every Thursday evening at Baker-Peters Jazz Club out west. Free. 7 pm.

Now based in Florida, JP Soars & The Red Hots won the International Blues Challenge in 2009, and they are playing at Brackins Blues Club in Maryville tonight. 9 pm.


Friday, September 30:

A special Bluegrass concert, "Sounds Like Home: A Night of Music from the Cumberlands," will serve as prelude to the Louie Bluie Music & Arts Festival in Cove Lake State Park. Concert lineup & more info.

Edwin McCain will perform in The Square Room on Market Square. 8 pm.

 

Saturday, October 1:

Now in it's 5th year, the Louie Bluie Festival has moved from June to October, but it still takes place in beautiful Cove Lake State Park in Caryville, just a short drive up I-75. It keeps getting better and better every year. Check out the music lineup. Gates open at 10 am, and the festival runs till 7:45 pm.

Friday, October 7:

"Alive After Five" at the Knoxville Museum of Art will feature a fabulous Blues show by Jenna & Her Cool Friends. 6:00 pm.

Music Therapy can be found every 1st and 3rd Friday at the Time Warp Tea Room on Central Street in Happy Holler. Free. 8 pm.

 

Sunday, October 9:

The Smoky Mountain Blues Society presents a Blues Cruise on the Star of Knoxville riverboat, featuring Geoff Trabalka & The West Side Cats. Boarding begins at 2 pm. Casting off at 3.

 

Friday, October 14:

As National Hispanic Heritage Month concludes, "Alive After Five" at the Knoxville Museum of Art presents Rolando Matias & The Afro-Diziak Quintet. 6:00 pm.

The one and only Mr. B. B. King will perform at the Tennessee Theatre on Gay Street. 8 pm.

 

Wednesday, October 19:

Australian Bluesman Harper will perform at Brackins Blues Club in Maryville.

 

Friday, October 21:

The Stella-Vees, from Lexington, Kentucky, will stir up the dance floor at the Knoxville Museum of Art's "Alive After Five" with their swingin' Blues. 6:00 pm.

 

Wednesday, October 26:

Tony Rice and Peter Rowan will perform at the Bijou Theatre on Gay Street. 8 pm.

 

Thursday, October 27:

The Jayhawks and Tift Merrit will perform at the Bijou Theatre on Gay Street. 8 pm.

 

Friday, October 28:

Boys' Night Out will throw a Carolina Beach party replete with R & B and Soul at the Knoxville Museum of Art's "Alive After Five". 6-8:30 pm.

 

Sunday, October 30:

The Smoky Mountain Blues Society concludes this year's Blues Cruise series on the Star of Knoxville riverboat with a performance by R. J. Mischo with Smokin' Section. Boarding begins at 2 pm. Casting off at 3.

 

Thursday, November 10:

The Boxer Rebellion, from London (England, not Kentucky) and featuring Blount County expatriate Nathan Nicholson, will perform at The Square Room on Market Square. Canon Blue will open the show. 8 pm.

 

Saturday, December 31:

"Alive into 2012!", the New Year's Eve party at the Knoxville Museum of Art will feature the rockin' Soul and R & B of Soul Connection. 9 pm.
